MAKING ORNAMENTS AND MERRY MEMORIES

By KAITLYN METICHECCHIA

Looking for a fun holiday event?  Then come join the class of 2018 in their “Paint Your Own Holiday Ornament” fundraising event.  It will be a morning of friends, family, and holiday fun for everyone who attends, while also benefiting the students of Washingtonville High School, in particular,  the class of 2018.

KAITLYN METICHECCHIA FOR THE WIZARD WEEKLY
This event will take place on December 2nd (rain date: December 9th), from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. in the large cafeteria which will be decorated in the holiday’s spirit.  Participants are welcome to arrive anytime between 11 a.m. and 1 p.m. For $12, participants receive a four inch pre-made ornament, paint, painting supplies, cookies, milk, hot cocoa, tea, and coffee.

Anyone interested in participating should reserve a spot by Tuesday, November 21st.   To reserve a spot, one must pay ahead of time since the event is capped at 100 participants, giving Ms. Held the opportunity to order the correct amount of supplies for all who are attending.  To sign up, contact Ms. Held to receive the link to the Google form.  Seniors can access this link through the Class of 2018 Google Classroom.

Although this event is centered around painting ornaments, it will only take approximately an hour to paint one ornament.  Painting is not the only thing for people to enjoy and this fun-filled event.   Ms. Held and the senior class officers thought ahead when planning and intend to keep everyone entertained and involved.  The class of 2018 secretary, Lauren Merchant, stated, “We will have hot beverages and cookies for our guests and the Class of 2018 holiday elves on hand to read stories to children in attendance.”

Participating in this event also benefits a good cause.  The money raised will benefit this year's senior class.  The class of 2018 president, Maya Diaz explained, “The event helps raise money for the senior class so activities such as the senior banquet and senior barbecue  are affordable for seniors.”  The money raised will surely help the seniors make the most of their last year at Washingtonville High School.

Please come out and support this senior class fundraiser by participating in a holiday event that is enjoyable for everyone.  It will be a morning of fun for students, family and members of the community  that no one will want to miss.
