NOT JUST ANOTHER CINDERELLA STORY

By KAITLYN METICHECCHIA

Everyone knows the famous rags to riches fairytale of Cinderella, but not everyone knows every version. This year, The Masque and Mime Society’s annual fall children's musical will be Cinderella’s Glass Slipper. This musical is the first production of the year and every member of Masque and Mime is determined to set the bar high.

This year’s rendition of Cinderella’s Glass Slipper is an adaptation on the classic fairytale. The production is tailored to children, but will entertain audiences of all ages. Everyone is encouraged to see it.

KAITLYN METICHECCHIA FOR THE WIZARD WEEKLY
Vice president and co-light chief of Masque and Mime, Jake Helpley, expressed the importance of attending the show.  “People should come see the show because we’ve worked really hard on it and we continue to work hard on all our shows.  It would be really disappointing if no one would get to see any of the great acting or singing or hard work we've put  into it. I mean, this is our heart and soul.  We don't sleep for about a solid week to make sure the show is great. So, support us, give us money, make our day.”

Seeing a Masque and Mime production is not just about seeing an incredible show; it is about supporting everyone involved and the club itself. There are approximately 70 students between the cast and crew who take part in bringing this production to life.  Attending the show provides support to each and every one of these students.  In addition,  attendance provides Masque and Mime the funding necessary for producing future shows. Masque and Mime advisor and director, Mrs. Jodi Davis, explained, “The tickets help defray the cost of the show. All money goes back into the show. But, most importantly, it gives students a chance to perform, use their tech skills, and learn how to produce a show.”

The Masque and Mime Society will present this “theater for young audience” piece Friday, Oct. 20 at 7 p.m. and Saturday Oct. 21 at 2 p.m.  Tickets can be purchased from Mrs. Davis during the day in Guidance or at the box office before the show.  The box office will open half an hour before the show, although it is advised to purchase tickets ahead of time. Tickets are $7 or $6 when bought with a non-perishable food item.

There is no doubt that Cinderella’s Glass Slipper should not be missed. Come out to support your fellow Wizards and the arts while witnessing a childhood fairytale brought to life. Do not miss out on a magical experience!
